Description

Fresh, creamy avocado dip with tomato, onion and cilantro — perfect for chips, tacos or topping your favorite Mexican dishes Fresh, creamy avocado dip with tomato, onion and cilantro — perfect for chips, tacos or topping your favorite Mexican dishes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 small tomato, seeded and diced
  • ¼ cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional for heat)
  • 2 Tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Prep the avocados. Cut each avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  • Mash. Using a fork (or potato masher), mash the avocado to your desired texture—smooth or slightly chunky.
  • Combine. Stir in tomato, onion, jalapeño and cilantro until evenly distributed.
  • Season. Pour the lime juice over the mixture, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Rest & serve. Let sit 5 minutes for flavors to meld (optional), then transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy immediately.

Notes

To slow browning, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the guacamole’s surface before covering. For extra zing, stir in a pinch of ground cumin or smoked paprika.
